So… while things are still well beyond the borders of prototype-land, at least this version looks a bit better than the first working version. I think it’s the metal panel that makes the difference, and the VFD.

Thankfully, there wasn’t one… despite being horribly inept at ordering electronic parts (always seem to forget some little bit or bob), all the components have been soldered on the preamp PCB, my provisional microcontroller board is attached, and it all actually works.
